Harrisburg Auto Auction in Mechanicsburg, Pa., is raising $50,000 for the American Red Cross to help dealers and others affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Lynn Weaver, general manager, said the money is being donated to the American Red Cross. "Some of our dealers were hit pretty hard by the hurricane," Weaver said. "So we wanted to help them."
A short time after the hurricane, the auction decided to give $5 from every car sold on the block to the American Red Cross. Weaver said the auction also passed a bucket to collect additional money from dealers during sales. He said the donations should help as dealers affected by the storm "get back on their feet."
