BERNARD HART
1958 – 1989 Executive Secretary
In 1954 Leona Drake asked Hart, secretary of the National Auction
Association, to work as a clerk on the auction block at Indianapolis
Auto Auction. In 1958 Hart attended the NAAA Annual Convention
in Chicago. There he was named Executive Secretary of NAAA.
“There was not much discussion as the rails had been well
greased” thanks to Hart’s father’s association with NAAA President
Tim Anspach. In 1988 Bernie Hart was awarded the NAAA Hall of
Fame honor. He completed 30 years of service as NAAA Executive
Secretary and his name is synonymous with the auto auction
industry. Hart retired at the end of 1989.

The 10th Anniversary of the Association is celebrated Bernard Hart is appointed Executive Secretary at the NAAA
at the Hotel Bismarck in Chicago, Illinois. Annual Convention in Chicago. Forty-one auctions registered,
and 118 people attended.
